The first home project
Well, hree it is. At first I was hype about it, then that slowly faded in and out as I was starting to actually prime and then paint. I promise you it's not the greatest paint job in the world, (some of the edges need some touching up) but its a decent job if I can say so. It's mine, so I can say so :-) I got some cool posters to put up there, so that helps to add some flavor. Once My desk comes in I can actually get to setting the room up. THen a black futon at some point and I'll be good :-)
House Warming details to come :-)
And now, the search for furniture.
With all this house stuff going on can be a beast. I've got most of the paperwork stuff in tact and ready to go. now its just about packing, lining up the power and cable stuff, and getting furniture. Yea... furniture.
Apparently NC is known for its furniture stores, so you'd think this would be an easy task. I've only been to a couple places locally so far, and they do have some decent stuff. The biggest issue i'm finding is after doing some research on these place online, the customer service reviews are horrible. It seems like its a nightmare to deal with shipping furniture and finding out the status of an order. I'm not buying anything I can't see in the store or have delivered locally! How about that!

Ladies and Gentlemen....
Been a while since I wrote anything in here, so figured I'd post a little update. I've basically been getting all things in order for the house that you see above. I never knew how much went into the home buying process. It has definitely been an informative and I'm so ready for it to be done! I close on the 20th, so um... yeah... feel free to ask me for my new address where you can send those house warming gifts that you've been dying to ship off :-)

You've got to be kidding me...
This was on the front page of Yahoo! yesterday..
Today sucks.
Why we getting crushed???
So, this season... not going so well. 1st game we went down with by about 20. Second game was closer to 40... not nice. Third game we started to get it together, but we still went down by 19. Tonight is game 4. Hopefully things well be on the up and up! Pray for us!!
The Day Has Come.
Well, I've finally done it. 5 Years without it. That ends today. At some point today between the large window of 1pm to 5pm, I will become a certified member of Time Warner Cable. Digital Cable at that!
Today I am wearing all black. Don't know? Find out why.
The Jones Brothers??

Are Bobby Jones (left) and Quincy Jones (right) related? You be the judge.
AND NOW... THE CRAZY MONTH OF AUGUST...
Really, this month has just been hectic, hectic, hectic. Let's see if I can map out everything that's going on and will be going on in thist hot month of augusto.
My dad had to have heart surgery, so we (family) went home for that. I arrived 7/26. The surgery was going to be Friday, but it wasn't an emergency, so they moved it back to Monday. Thanks be to God thee surgery went very well. We spent everything before and after the surgery over in Ormond where he was at, which was about 30 minutes from the House. He finally came home on Sunday, August 5th. I flew back to Raleigh on 8/4 and went on in to work. That's trip one.
So, I go to work everyday until Friday, 8/10, when I fly back home to DeLand. My brother was having his Ordination ceremony in Tallahassee on Sunday, 8/12. My plane was about an hour and a half late friday night, but that allowed me to catch up on some reading I needed to do. I ended up getting in DeLand about midnight or so.

So the next morning, I woke up and after chilling around the house for a while, I made the 3.5 hour drive to Tallahassee. His ordination was Sunday at 4pm and it was an awesome celebration. Afterwards, I caught up with some old faces and got some food at one of our boy's house. Then around 8:45pm I got back on the road and drove back to DeLand. I then got everything ready, showered and took a "nap" until about 4:30am when I woke up to leave for the aiport by 5am so I would be there by 6am to make my 7am flight ( got that?). Got in around 9:00am, got some Chick Fila, and went on in to work. Please know that I slept very well that night. That's trip two.
Now... I am flying back to DeLand on friday night to (a) go to a Wedding on 8/18 and (b) stay the week with my dad. We are all taking turns being there with him while he recovers, since he needs help with some things here and there. All in all, he's really back to his old self. So I'll be there for the week of the 20th pretty much, then fly back on the 25th.
Now with all of that going on, i'm in the process of purchasing my first home (NICE), so i'm planning meetings with my realtor so I can view some properties, trying to meet with lenders and get all this paperwork done. Not enough time in a day.... but i'm gonna be alright :-)
And that is the month of August. Stay tuned... maybe September will better :-)
Jersey time.
Yes... the Orlando jersey has been located. Happy? Much I am. Then we got the hockey jerseys the same week. We did these at my job for Phil Hellmuth, WSOP champion. We got some done for people in the office, if they wanted one that is. Well I did! And don't mind the faces... you should know by now I can't smile
"That cake, like it's.. it's... my birthday"
In chatting with some of my co-workers the other day, I happen to mention cake and they thought that it was crazy that I didn't have a birthday cake. So they baked me one! Well, not just for me... there's another guy at work that has the same birthday, so they put 27 on the cake for me, and added his age up with the rest of the candles. Gotta love the co-worker bond!
The Authentic 94-95 Orlando Magic Away Blue Jersey
I had a throwback moment yesterday while laying around. Some how I got on the thought of "what happen to..." and of course my boy Penny Hardaway came to mind immediately.
Then that got me to thinking about those slick away jerseys they had for like one season during the NBA's 50th anniversary. I always wanted that jersey! So that led to me searching the net madly to try and find some place that might have it. Very little luck. I came across one on eBay that i'm tracking now, but it ends in 6 days.
I guess I also got to thinking about that because someone asked me if I got everything I want for my birthday on tuesday. I said yes, because I really didn't want anything, but the jersey came to mind as one of those things i've "always wanted". With that said, if anybody comes across one of these jerseys for a reasonable price, let me know!!
And now for some classic Penny footage...
Happy Birthday to me... it's the big 27 baby!!
Plus, I have the joy of sharing my bday with a twin brother, a carpooling coworker and a fellow crispy designer in NY. That makes it all grand right there.
What's on the agenda today you ask? Let's see. Probably get a (free) lunch today at Buffalo Brothers, then chill tonight and hit up a hockey game with some coworkers. I keep it simple, but I keep it crispy as well!
A few of you out there in tv land have called me old today. Well, to you I say old is a look and a feeling, and I look and feel great parnter!!!!
Wow... I haven't posted anything in here in a while.
Well, I'll catch you up to date on.. .actually, much of nothing. Let's see... I guess the biggest things lately have been seeing Transformers, which actually lived up to the hype. I don't think I'll be going to see it in the theatre again, though it's definitely worth it.
Well that was short... oh well.. at least I can say I wrote SOMETHING.
I was browsing around some of my favorite design sites when I can acrosss this project that Juxt Interactive did.
It's a compelling story about a 30 year old filmmaker named Patrick O'Brien who was officially diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), a terminal disease that results in the progressive degeneration of the nerves and muscles responsible for voluntary movement. He's been given only 2-5 years to live.
The most compelling part for me is that he has choosen to document his journey with ALS on 35mm motion picture film to bring awareness to the illness and to inspire people to “keep moving through their own adversities”. It inspires me to see how he still is using design to communicate.
Take a moment to read up about his documentary and other films he's done on the Patrick O'Brien Foundation website.
Agent down. Agent down.
Ok, lets get to it. I play basketball in the city league (abusement park, check a few entries below). Code name: Agent 0. Last night I was going up for a rebound and someone undercut me, thus resulting in me diving head first to floor and using my elbow to break my fall. After a nice shower and 6 hours in the ER, the result: Small radial head fracture in the elbow. I'm on the IR for a couple weeks, hopefully not till the end of the season. Have to play it by ear. That sucks, but not spooky. 1st Agent down.
Last night the Real Agent Zero Gilbert Arenas suffered an injury in the first quarter of Washington’s game vs. Charlotte on April 4, and is expected to be out for 2-3 months. That sucks, and now is spooky. 2nd Agent down.
So what does that leave us with? 2 agents out for the season (possibly for me) on April 4th? That sucks. But as the above article mentions: We expect him to make a full recovery, and we know that his teammates will be up to the challenge to respond in his absence. Let's do this.
It's April already? Feels like 07 is flying by.
We had our first game tonight, and we beasted that! (We won...) I had a season high 4 points lol.... It was the first game, but we did pretty well for not all having played together but once. Get ready next week, we're opening up some new rides and atractions, including Face Mountain, Lazy River, and The Tornado!
The Park is officially open! Awwww snap! Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and little girls, dogs, cats and chickens... we welcome you to the grand opening of Abusment Park. Yea, I'm being a little dramatic here, but this is the name of the city league basketball team that I'm on. What you think of that logo there? Little something I put together for my fellow staff at The Park.

Art dectective is on the case. I was doing some research for jungle art for Max Steel and started looking at Contra. After looking at the old NES catridge, I thought, hmmm that looks a lot like Arnold on the Predator DVD cover I have. So I went and googled the pics and ... Well look at the little collage I made. Who would have thought. Supposedly the other guy's face is taken from Sly Stallone, I just couldn¹t find that pic.
Now powered by (mt) media temple. Yea, check the footer. My old webhost recently merged with some new company as many small companies though. Unfortunately, with that merge came days of downtime on my site and lost emails floating somewhere in e-space. So the upgrade time had come. I've completed the switch over to media temple and I can't be happier. You truly do get what you pay for!
Happy Valentine's Day! What did I do you ask? Went to the NC State game! They actually got outplayed the whole game, but better to see it in person than at the crib, no?
This is Better. Even though this one didn't seem like much when I woke up around 7:30 this morning, it's gotten a little better..
This is weak. You'd think that with us being in the heart of winter, we might actually get some good stuff falling from the sky. This is all we got... so far...
I woke up with the hopes of there being some much mush and slush on the ground that I could stay home and have a xbox day, but that's not in the cards I see. So, I'm here at work watching the freezing rain come down. On top of all that, the Chick Fila downtown closed because of this. What kind of crap?!? Messing up morning tradition... I digress.
Well Happy New Year! Just realized I hadn't wrote anything since we broke into '07. No resolutions... those are too easily broken. The only thing I ran with was to limit distractions this year. Grown man business only.
Holidays were pretty good. Took the train home again and stayed there for 2 weeks almost. Got to see all the fellas, so that's always worth the trip right there. One of them got engaged! Now that makes my cousin and I the last of the bunch lol... it's all good. I'm in no rush here.
