One of my coworkers let me know that I was in the local paper today in the Career Moves section. I didn't realize I was cheesing that hard LOL. It's cool to have a little moment in the light. Check out the article here.

What a campaign...

At this point there's probably little doubt on which preisidential candidate I voted for. I'm praying for this country however it turns out. One thing I have to appreciate though is how visually invigorating and cohesive his campaign has been. From the wallpapers (shown above, download at Barack's website** I didn't make these! **) to the website and iPhone application, he has effectively utilized technology and social networks in his grassroots approach to this election. It's simply great design that reflects his mesage of hope and communicates it in an inspirating way - which is what design is supposed to do.

Now, I don't care if you go out and write-in vote for Abraham Lincoln or Elvis Presley, GO VOTE!

And let it touch...

So, I made the leap this weekend and got in on the touchscreen action with an iPhone. I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with it overall, especially being able to sync everything from my laptop. I've cut my ringtones too, so it's ready to go!

Can't get enough of the airport..

Long picture. Long weekend.

Where do I start... Well, first comes the 10 year school reunion. Made the trip down to good ol DeLand, FL for a blast back into the past with my classmates. I can't say there were too many shockers. Most of us have connected in the last couple years through Myspace and Facebook. I wonder if that is a good thing or bad thing? Hmmm... Either way, it was good times. This is probably one of the first times i've been out every night in a long, long time... and worth every minute!

Now the saga. Buckle up. So my flight leaves at 6:55am on monday. Sunday night I went out with some friends to Applebees just to chill one more time before we all head back out of town. At some point, one of them saw a roach (yes.. a roach) crawl by the booth and she flipped out and basically pushed me out the booth trying to get away. The roach seemed to go in her purse, so she ended up dumping her whole purse on the floor trying to make sure it wasn't there. Luckily, the restaurant wasn't packed at all and none even saw all of this... weird. So, after they are about to close bout midnight, we talked outside for about an hour catching up some more.

It's now 1:30am and I need to get home to get a couple hours sleep before I need to get to the airport. We get ready to leave and my friend realizes that she can't find her keys. After checking her car and purse dumping again, we realize they must be in the booth somewhere. Of course everyone had left and of course the one who left the keys was suppsoed to take the other girl there to the airport! So, after sitting in the truck and trying to figure out what to do, we finally figure out a plan that would work to get the keys and the ride to the airport.

Now it's about 3:00am and i'm finally getting home. I still have a few things to pack and get together. I finally lay down at about 4:00am to take a nap basically.

It's 5:00am, waking up and getting ready to roll out the house by 5:30am. Why did I think that was enough time when we are already 40 minutes from the airport?? So, I get there about 6:30am and pretty much see this failing quickly. I got to the gate at 6:55am and the plane was sitting there, but the doors were closed. Yea, not happening. So now I have to wait on standby for a 10:20am flight. That's 4 hours.

10:20am.. flight is full. So now the next guranteed seat I can take is at 11:20am... to Philly, then to Raleigh. No choice, I roll with it. By this time, my friend who's flight was at 11:15am was at the airport. We talk and laugh at this craziness. Then, I go to get on my flight, and she actually somehow missed her flight!

Arrive in Philly at about 2:30pm. Leave out for Raleigh about 3:15 and land at 5:15pm. (Summarizing now because i'm tired of typing..)

So that's my day!

Week one at Howard Merrell

Well, after 3 great years at Oasys Mobile, I've moved on to an Interactive Art Director position at Howard Merrell. It's always hard to say goodbye when you've been somewhere for so long, but the time felt right to head on to a new opportunity.

Spent most of the day getting settled in set up. The people are here really laid back, PLUS they have a foosball table... gotta love that. I'm pumped about getting started and doing some good stuff here!

I mean seriously, LOL...

So, apparently I stopped late at this intersection and that wasn't good enough, LOL. Isn't that a great treat to get in the mail. $50 fine. Oh well, TECHNICALLY I did "fail to stop at a red light"... but like the title says - I mean, seriously.

Next great piece of mail - property tax... oh lawd!!! That was fun there. I don't know if i am laughing or crying inside. Well, that's all part of owning a home, right? Whew...

It's coming along..

Finally pulled the trigger on some furniture last weekend. It arrived on my birthday, so it REALLY is my birthday gift to myself. The next thing I need is to add some "color" to the room, so hopefully I can get that working for me with some reds and oranges ( like the piece on the ottoman.) Stay tuned for more :p

It's Me, Stitches!

It's been a while huh? Well, might as well come back with a bang. How you like that pic? A crossover results in 2 heads colliding: one ends up with a huge knot on their head, the other ends up leaking from the face. That was grand. It was even better when we went to Urgent Care and the doctor wigged out Ð "oh, no! you're going to need a plastic surgeon, no.. noo.. we can't .. no! you're going to be ok... but ... oh my!" Thanks for the vote of confidence lady...

So, after a trip next door to the ER and a REAL doctor checking me out, they numbed me and stitched me on up. Sad part is I just look like I got beat up. The Timeline of My Eye. (Viewer Discretion Advised).

On a happier note, I got some new furniture coming in.. I'll post some pics when they arrive on my birthday, Thursday (REMINDER!)

Office Nerf Wars = Iron Man mod.

So people in my office have started getting these nerf guns just to have a little fun (they are only $8 actually). So I finally broke down and got one. Then someone showed up with one painted all black with gold accents. NICE. Come to find out there's a lot of sites out there for this type of custom nerf guns.... who would've thought?

So I got to thinking about the iron man suit in the new movie and I was like... hmmm... those would be good colors. So after a trip to Lowes, some spraying and a messy garage floor... we have these:

Oasys Housewarming

Had a housewarming get together for the coworkers this past weekend. It was good times, even though I got there late! Why? Well, the kind folks at Lowes Foods up the street seem to have forgotten about the wing platter order I put in earlier that day. So that had me waiting in the grocery store for about 30 minutes while they made the whole thing. Isn't that grand?

Once they were finally done, I arrive to see some people waiting in my driveway for me! How awkward is that. Threw my schedule off a bit, so I had to set some stuff up still. It came together though. Good thing they were coworkers lol.
